Overview
The Department of Physics is a key academic unit of JSS University, Noida, established in 1998 under JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida (JSSATEN). It has grown into a vibrant academic unit that blends a strong tradition of teaching with an active research culture.

The department plays a pivotal role in building a solid scientific foundation for engineering students by fostering analytical reasoning and innovation. Physics forms the backbone of engineering disciplines, providing fundamental principles essential for design and problem solving. The department offers core theory and practical courses for all first-year B.Tech students, with an emphasis on activity-based learning through laboratory work and project-driven assignments. Well-equipped physics laboratories enable students to gain valuable hands-on experience and develop essential experimental skills.

In addition to undergraduate teaching, the department offers a rigorous M.Sc. Physics programme which integrates strong foundations in core subjects with advanced modules in quantum information, nanoscience, device physics, AI/ML applications, and energy technologies, preparing students for careers in semiconductors, nanotechnology, renewable energy, sensors, advanced materials, data science, research, and doctoral studies. By combining theory with experimental practice, the programme highlights the relevance of physics to engineering and technology. The department supports research in condensed matter physics, materials science, photonics, and water quality analysis. All faculty members hold PhD degrees and contribute through publications in reputed journals, conference presentations, collaborative projects, and patents. With over two decades of academic service and research excellence, the Department of Physics remains committed to advancing knowledge and preparing future engineers and scientists.
