Overview
Deriving its roots from the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, the Department of Chemistry was established at JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida in the year, 1998, which later culminated into the Chemistry at JSS University, Noida.
The department has grown into a strong academic and research-driven unit in a short span of time. It plays a key role in providing a solid chemical science foundation to engineering students, fostering scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
The department offers core theory and laboratory courses to all first-year B.Tech students, supported by activity-based learning and modern laboratories equipped with UV–Visible Spectrophotometers, Flame Photometers, Potentiometers, Water Quality Analysis Systems, and Material Testing Kits.
It also offers a comprehensive M.Sc. Chemistry programme. Advanced modules of the syllabus such as Nanomaterials, Green Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organometallics, Spectroscopy, and Energy Materials equip students for careers in pharmaceuticals, materials research, polymers, nanotechnology, environmental science, renewable energy, and also prepare them for competitive exams and PhD research.
Highlights
The Department of Chemistry has been sanctioned over ₹43 lakhs in research funding from leading agencies such as DST, AICTE(SPICE), DSIR, and JSSAHER, including international collaboration under the DST Indo-Russian ILTP program.
Major Completed Grants: Over ₹28 lakhs, supporting research in advanced polymers, nanocomposites, eco-friendly materials, packaging technology, and student development initiatives.
Ongoing Funded Projects: ₹15 lakhs, focused on women entrepreneurship and low-cost sanitary napkin production with strong societal impact.
The department has 100% PhD-qualified faculty.
Faculty members have collectively published over 200 research papers in reputed national and international journals.
